Blacklights with fish

i really want to do this because i saw black rocks with like fluorescent colors with it. then meijer has some fluorescent plastic plants and caves but i wont do it unless i can get a black light.

don't know how safe it is for the fish. most black lights focus on UVA. if the fish natively live in shallow sunny pools it probably won't hurt them as they should have evolved protection from the UV in the sunlight. Also, it might burn real plants, again if they are high light it shouldn't bother them.

I am pretty sure water is very good at blocking UVA. you might not be able to get the affect you want (the uv wont penetrate) if you have a very large tank.
