Using CF bulbs

Is it safe to assume that all bulb shaped compact florescent light bulbs will be **cooler** in temperature than incandescent lights?

I have a hood that is rated for no more than 15 Watts. I went out and bought a CF bulb that looks like it will fit in the same space, uses 5 or 7 watts of power and puts out either 40 or 60 watts light equivalent. (I bought both kinds.)

Other than trying it and checking the temperature of it all day long for a couple days...any experiences you can share?

Well the 15W bulb that came with it also gives out light on all sides including the top. There is an aluminum reflector built into the hood.

Awesome! Betta's gonna get some plants then. I really want to cut down on gravel vacuuming my tank at work.
