I keep the temperature about 82f and my ph is 7.2, I have very hard and akaline water here, I live in the self proclaimed cement capital of Texas. That means I live on one huge limestone depository. The guy who had the ram in the pic had him for two months at similar water parameters so I bought him. Much more colorful than my other ram in my 10 gallon. But he is very hardy as well.
The light is a 24" 20w strip light I picked up at walmart for $5. It is a temporary untill I actually start planting the tank heavily. I was considering adding some anubias and a java fern and maybe some brazillian micro sword.
This was a gift tank 29g. It was in really poor shape. The ballast in the light fixure had failed. I was not sure why until I was about to plug the filter in. I noticed that the power cord looked like it had been chewed by a dog. Had I plugged it in it might have started a new fire. I had to strip and rebind it with electrical tape. Its some kind of cheap power filter. I will replace it when I get some cash, but you cant beat the price. The only money I have in it is for the livestock the strip light and some decor from a couple other tanks I wasnt using.
