Hello all. I've had a recent developement in my 20 gall tank. I've managed to accumulate 6-8 of these snails and I don't know what they are. I have a planted tank so I'm assuming they probably came from one of the plants I put in there. I just want to know if these snails will eat my plants.

They are football shaped with a spiral on the back end of the shell that comes to a nice point. My first thought was common pond snail but was wondering if anyone else could lend an opinion. Most are fairly small so I can't really get a good look at any patterns the shell may have.

If they are common pond snails will they eat my plants?

Thanks,
Curtis

MTS for sure! Heres a pic:

It's not MTS as I would have recognized that. I want those but don't have any. The shell isn't as pointed as that. Just the end part is a spiral point. It's more football shaped then elongated such as the MTS. They also crawl all along my tank walls at all times of the day. If I can get a good angle on one I'll try to post a pic.

Yeah limiting food is good, but gets hard when you're raising fry :)
But I agree with Kas.. if you don't want them to become a problem, now is the best time to get rid of them, there may already be eggs in there, so keep an eye out.
