I have already lost 2 Bettas to some strange white fuzz, and I don't want to go through it again. I have 2 left and some Platys in a 10 gallon tank. One of those Platys is pregnant. How much salt can I put in a planted tank with Bettas and a pregnant Platy?

I'm sorry. I forgot to mention that I have snails too. Will the salt harm my snails?

As far as I know, salt doesn't do much in terms of disease prevention. How many platys do you have in this tank? Also, do a search for cotton fungus and see if that is what you have

I can't say that it is cotton mouth. The fungus wasn't around their mouths. It was on their bodies. It is similar though. I heard that salt helps a lot, but I have snails and I don't want to kill them.
Should I dose with Melafix and Primafix to head off any spreading of illness or should I use something else because of my pregnant Platy? Please help.

He said Cotton fungus, not cotton mouth. There's a difference. Well, for my experience, I treat my tank weekly. And it comes back EVERY week. Use anti fungal medications that can be bought even at wal mart. They work. Hopefully you don't get the strain that just doesn't leave.
