This is not good at all...
I thought some might want to know. Strange how the government has its underground 'bunkers' ready. Very reassuring.... (sarcasm..)

seems like bs since all radioactive inside the us can be tracked down by sateliteHow I want to believe that!!
I'm not so sure smaller amounts can be tracked. The "suitcase" sized only weigh around 120lbs..
I'd like someone to "prove" this article is wrong.

This is something someone showed me when I mentioned this:
http://kurtnimmo.com/blog/index.php?p=630That gives me a little 'relief'... Shame that someone is cashing in on the situation. Even so, I think the terrorists would enjoy the worst case senario.
The only problem with the link, Joe, is that this guy sounds like a 'bitter liberal', as someone else put it. It turned into a 'left-wing' 'right-wing' thing. I'm trying to think if there's someone I know whom I can ask.

Maybe it would comfort you in knowing that people storing "large"(as in warehouse large) amounts of pottery/clay tiles are often raided due to some tiles being mildly radioactive. Another thing is that there are only 2 missing suitcase bombs. And all wareheads are accounted for and tracked if they come in and out of russia. An example would be the chechins (sp?) would raded a hospital to get radioactive matter from an mri or somthing. The radioactive substance was no bigger that a golf ball and was tracked down by spipznaz and recovered in less than 3 hours. This was done through satilites as anything that can produce a huge explosion produces a signal.
*except the suitcases which where designed and shielded by the russians to be undetectable. (but still trackable by the russians)

Chicken Little, "The sky is falling!"
We should be vigilent, but not foolish in protecting ourselves.
This is sensationalist reporting. And about as accurate as Chicken Little's statement.

Yeah,
it may very well be more important to be deeply worried out about our public transit systems, which seem to be severely underfunded:

I would like to see someone try to hijack a train and ram it into the side of a building to cause chaos.

I don't believe that's really true Joe. I can't prove it, but some of the classes I had to take in college discussed the use of satellite images for geological surveying - but we were also shown how they track methamphedamine(sp?) production and illegal immigrants who try to sneak in. Surely something this extreme wouldn't go unchecked. Besides, the Texas border is much easier to track than the Florida border. I would view the Florida coast as a much harder area to control because of the size and proximity to places like Cuba and Haiti. Please, this is not a "generalization" of nationalities, I know very good people from both countries. I just get the feeling that these stories were meant to spread fear. Well, I have faith in my country to protect me. I also pay taxes for it, and I'm sure the people protecting us don't want us to get blown up any more than we do since they'd be out of a job. It's not good press for something like that to happen on your watch. LOL :)

FWIW, some specific problems with the original article...
Who cares if uranium and plutonium are kept separate? There's no particular reason they need to be kept apart. Really, what I'm trying to say is neither is safe on their own.
The bunkers. We've had bunkers since at least the fifties. I'm sure some other version has existed since about 1775. One decommisioned bunker in western Maryland now functions as a hotel resort and golf course.
Only then, bin Laden has said, would the crimes committed by America on the Arab and Muslim world be avenged.
Yeah, right--he'd stop there.
Other problems, too, of the sensationalist type, but I'm pretty much beating a dead horse, so I'll stop.

I was thinking more in terms of the use of explosives in London, Madrid and Iraq. Actually, that's an interesting point--many are worried that the emphasis on hijacking after 9/11 has diverted attention from public transport.
Um, is that my fam? Um........

i was gonna ask the same question :OT:
I would like to see someone try to hijack a train and ram it into the side of a building to cause chaos. The reason I mentioned this is to suggest that there is more security on air transport that ground is that the potential for destruction is greater with an aircraft. Could you imagine the cost of putting a sky marshall (train marshall? Would he then work out of a marshalling yard?) on most of the trains and buses in NA?

People that don't believe this can/will happen is that they don't realize lead is sheilding these weapons from detection. These terrorists are not stupid - and they are on a mission from their god...
I posted this article not to spread fear - not at all, but to show the real possibility exists. And don't think they would not use these weapons on us.

This just doesn't 'go away' on its own...

That's a good point. On the other hand, I'm thinkig that it is easier to attack public transit and, since more people use it everyday, a fear spread more broadly and prevalently.

Joe, I do believe it can happen and that Bin Laden would do it in a heartbeat, I just don't think it's likely to happen. And I also know that you don't even need lead. I think it's 6 inches of soil or water will also shield. But, I prefer to remain positive because I personally can't do anything about it, other than stay alert. Trust me, if I saw anyone who looked nervous and was fiddling in their bag on a bus, train or plane I would do something about it.

Just to let you know - you guys and gals got to read the article I posted first.
It's now all over the radio 'news/talk' shows! The guy that broke this sad and scary news is now meeting with ..I think they said a congressman...(as if that might help..)..... I can get the name, but I'm off to work.
I will respond to constructive opinions on this, but not any "hoax sayers" or rudeness.
After all, this only concerns a few million.
