He likes to disable fishing boats by breaking the rudders, so the people will hang around and 'play' with him all day.

Awww... It sounds kind of cute, but then you think about everything that could go wrong! I remember a story like this a while back, and it didn't end very well. Some whale that got separated from its pod and never met back up with them and ended up dying because it never left the area like it should have, something like that :huh: . Hopefully this will have a better ending!

From what I understand, the community is building an aquatic fenceline to keep him away from the boats an hoping he'll link up with a passing pod in time.

I read about him in the Smithsonian magazine a few months back. It really is a sad situation for both the whale and people. I hope a pod comes along soon that he will join, but so far he only wants to be around people. Only time will tell for this lost soul, I wish him luck. I hope he one day finds a place to belong with others of his kind and takes many journeys through the oceans without any interference from humans.
