...It's probably the best place out of all the options to put this, so...

We all know that keeping aquariums can be an expensive hobby. Most of us have jobs to support ourselves and said hobby. However, those among us who aren't old enough to have a job (like me...) rely on birthday money, dog-sitting and other odd jobs.

Which brings me to my point. I am becoming an art (original entry was edited, think "lady of the evening"). I am willling to sell real media art to you guys and anyone you wish to tell. (I say "real media" because, while I can do tablet art, and it is much easier to transport, I always worry...) For those of you that love your fish, I can render them in any real media you wish...same with any other pet of yours (animals are quite easy to do realistically, although there is some trouble with cats). Landscapes, still life, abstract (hehehe)...current things I'm toying with are a large Celtic know composed of bichirs, and several realistic sketches of my glass cats (rendering those iridescent stripes), to give you an idea.

My personal specialty is cartooning, I don't typically do manga, although I would by request. I'm just learning to draw people, I can only do them by cartoon now. Ususally done in mechanical pencil for a nice, thin line, however, any real media by request. While not manga, they aren't typical Western, either, good examples of similar styles (for people) can be found at acciobrain.com (I hope that's it...). Not sure if there is a similar style for my animals...

So, in short, if anyone, anyone at all, would like to assist me in my tank for poor little Smčagol and Clyde, and maybe even someday be able to get a tank for a Ryukin, please take a look at that empty space on your wall and consider this...

(The only example of the stuff I do is my forum avatar (which took me 10 seconds, yuck), however, if any interest is displayed, I'll certainly post some tablet drawings.)

Although I'm not quite sure how to do the image posting...I'll try a few things when I go home later today.

There are some good places out there for selling your art/services. Do a Google search for Graphic Design forums, or illustrator forums. Do you have a portfolio? If you're really interested in pursuing the business, then having one is a must. You may want to scan your originals to display in an online portfolio as well. Best of luck! :)

Also, taking a drawing class, especially for learning to draw the human form, can be really helpful...and fun too!

good idea mishi, also consider placing an ad in a local paper once you get enough work together to show people. My friend does wall paintings occasionally, usually just for friends, but she is amazing and I really think she could make a decent living on it if she made her services available

Good luck :p:

I'm always willing to help someone out. The celtic designs you mentioned perked my interest. If you could post a sample, that would be great. I'm into digital art. I do fractal art (my avatar) as well as some renderings in Poser and PSP, as well as Photoshop. You may also want to check out http://www.renderosity.com It's an online art gallery where artists can share their work, sell it, and get feedback from other artists. I'm a member there. I did have some work uploaded but their server went haywire a week or so ago and I lost most of it. It's free to join. You can also set up your own store in the marketplace totally free. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful there. Granted, it's mostly digital art but I've seen some wonderful 'pen and paper' art on there as well. Good luck!

You've got some pretty good suggestions here from other members. I too am an artist of several styles, in fact I just created my own website with wildlife artwork. I still have to add a page for pet portraits. I'm going to be 21 years old on the 24th of this month and haven't found a good job since I got out of college, so your not alone in your broke-ness.:) So, I'm trying to see if I can make a living off my own talents, it may take a while before it takes off though. If and when you get your own portfolio up online, post the link here so we can visit. I wish you luck, as I myself need it!

Arrrgh! Natrually, when I go upstairs to retrieve the files from my own computer to bring them down and post them (mine isn't connected to the 'net), over the six days I was away, my computer mysteriously developed a problem that won't let me turn it on...it keeps telling me to remove any new hardware or software--fine, except there isn't any! It's been turned off for six days! ...If cleaning twenty pounds of lint out of it didn't work, letting it sit for a while doesn't work, or Theo's mysterious talent with computers fails...I'm going to take my scythe and saw the thing in half.
Also, of course, the scanner doesn't work. I hate technology.

...So, in the meantime until all this settles...does using the ordinary image retrival code (img src, pathname, etc, etc) work on here from a folder on your computer instead of an internet host?

When it starts to boot up, hit the F8 key to go into Safe Mode. It will not load anything but the necessary software to boot up. Then you can save your images on floppy or some other storage media. That way you can save the things that are important to you before anything else happens.

What version is it? 95, 98, 2000, etc?

XP. And it throws me off Safe Mode, too.

Do you have the installation disk? If so, maybe a repair/reinstall will fix the problem without you losing any of your data.

If that doesn't work, you can always take out the harddrive and put it in another PC as a slave harddrive. Then you can search it and take out all the files and pics you want to save before reimaging it.

...I have no idea what you just said, but thank you...I'll just get Theo to fix it... :pc:

did you add any software that has been on and this is the first time th ecomputer has been off since? and since your having problems with the scanner do you think this could be your hardware software thing ...?

Scanner's on my mother's computer, not mine. I did the best I could to fix it: I called my grandfather and asked him what it is...it's some inexplicible corruption, and my only chance of fixing it is taking it in to be fixed. (In all senses of the word. Mwahahaha.) If it is the hard drive that's corrupted, I won't lose all my files if it's put up as a slave drive (as previously mentioned). However, it means that I can't do any tablet work, soooo...until then, this thread is probably going to slip. Of course it happens after I post this thread... :duh: Oh well.
