I have the same size tank and I have the Emp 400 in the middle section and an XP3 for the left and right sections for a total of 3 filters. Tank is nice and clean!!!

I have a 125 with two Emperor 400's and a Top Fin 60. The Top Fin was a freebie and I plan to replace it with another Emperor 400 when it dies!

I would be inclined to get 2 more Emperor 400s in addition to the one you already have, for a total of 1200 gallons per hour, almost 10x turnover rate for your 125g.

Alternatively, you could get another Emperor 400 and add a large canister filter like Fluval, Eheim, or Filstar. This would be ideal for most average set-ups. You may need more filtration if you plan on keeping larger messy fishes like cichlids, or goldfish.

I Would Get Rid Of The Emp 400- Just Too Many Parts To Go Wrong And Too Hard To Clean!! If I Was You I Would Get 2 Aqua Clear 500 , They Are Alot Better And Can Each Filter Up To 110 Gallons. Which Would Be Plenty For The Tank.

get a total of 3 aquaclears and your good, 2 will be ok only if your understocked and do very regular maintenance
