i have a 65 gallon fresh water aquarium with aquatic plants and a couple of mollies in it.

snails just suddenly appeared out of no where. i first found about two of them, and thought that two wouldn't hurt. but now there are more snails that fishes. there are now hundreds(litterally) of snails in my tank.

how do i get rid of them all and prevent them from again appearing out of nowhere?

*i attached a picture that closely looks like these snails

Yea thats a common pond snail. Probaly the least desireable snail. If you feed less, the amount of snails will decrease. You can also ty introducing more desieable snails like malaysian trumpet snails or ramshorns to outcompete them. Algae eating fish like otos and true siamese algae eaters and bottom feeders like cories help keep the food down for the snails. Sqish the snails in the tank or remove them as u see them by hand. Loaches will eat snails.

I think I've read that you can put a large piece of lettuce in the tank and they will gather on it overnight. Worth a try, it might help you catch some of them

Clown loaches and maybe yoyo's. I put snails in my tank ...only about 20 and they were gone in a night with no snails to take their places. They won't harm adult mollies, and are probably less detramental to mollie babies than the mollies' parents, though I am not certain on that one. If you get clowns you should have at least 2, if not a small school.

there are some loaches that would work out for your tank and would do the job, but it really doesn't solve the problem of why you are getting snails. Also, clown loaches get WAY too big for a 65g tank, there are others that are more appropriate

well, you can always get the loaches, let them feast, then bring them back to your LFS. they'll probably be happy to get such fat healthy fish.

I have read that clownloaches would be ok in around a 70g tank. If you had a school, I'd assume bigger would be better.
