"Look at these wierdos..."
Everytime I hear that phrase, I get the strange sensation that I'm being watched. ;)

Yah, can you imagine people so enamored with hermit crabs? It's almost as bad as people that are so wrapped up in, say, fish? or dogs? cats?
c'mon people! What makes any pet enthusiast enthusiastic about his or her pet? Some people like fishes, some like crabs, some like dogs, horses, etc.
You could probably find a pet-enthusiast site of that sort for just about any type of pet.
These hermit crabs, while seemingly simple and straightforward, still have pet issues just like any other pet. And there's the fact that they don't come in just one "land hermit crab" species. There are a fair number of different sorts t be found. I saw five different kinds at Petco!
So yes, there will be much to learn and know, even about hermit crabs.
You can probably find a great website on feeder goldfish, too!
What kind of losers hang out at a forum about keeping crabs?
;)

I know, what do they talk about? "Today, I fed my crab. Tommorrow I'll give him a bath." :sim: lol
Kudos to Watcher for this cool thread. It really reflects how my friends viewed my hobby when I first showed them the 55g I used to have. They gave me some of the weirdest looks I've ever gotten.
Then, my family doesn't understand what I could possibly be talking about on a 'fish' website.
no look at THESE weirdos! (http://www.applesnail.net/)

no look at THESE weirdos! (http://www.applesnail.net/)
Actually, I think they truly are weirdos, here's a quote from their site:
"Are apple snails able reach supersonic speeds?
In general: NO!
However, Carlos from Spain managed to teach his snail how to drive a car. Now his snail travels at extreme speeds and is able to reach 135 km/h. Unfortunately his last attempt to establish a new record failed on the French high-way as the snail was unable to reach the toll-booth."
I really go for that off the wall humour taken to bizzare extremes.

you wouldn't believe how many of my friends think I'm a wierdo seeing how I frequent a fish forum... :)

my friends always say, "oh, I'm not into fish like you are." So, I guess I'm a wierdo, but they take pictures with their dogs at professional studios and dress them up for Halloween.

I've become rather interested in hermit crabs lately actually. In my search for information on these guys, I found THIS weirdo (http://www.thefunplace.com/house/pets/seamonkey.html)!
Lol I was waiting for someone to post a link to aquaria central too. Hee hee.
Whenever I try to enthusiasticly talk to my mom about my fish, she tells me fish aren't her life like they are mine lol.

Here's a quote from your site:
"if I were a Sea-Monkey, I’d be quite offended to be called a ‘Brine Shrimp’!"
My opinion: If I were a brine shrimp, I'd be offended if someone called me an aquatic monkey.
How about these weirdos
I almost did the same thing, but I figured it was too obvious. Kudos to slip for not caring.

There's a great course available for folks learning effective means of relaying jokes and for "setting the punchline" in online humor. Many many helpful tips and examples of successful, and not so successful giggles and gags.

The true weirdos are the ones that live in France and eat the snails. I'll stick to my crabs and butter, thank you.

Oh, come on. I posted a site "devoted to the keeping and care of" one type of animal on another site devoted to the exact same thing with another type of animal and called them freaks.
You were the only one who didn't get it.
Don't blame me because you are slow on the uptake.
