Just wondering how everyone elses other pets interact with your fishes? I have 2 cats, one loves to drink the tank water but seems oblivious that there are fish in there. The other sits and watches the fish for hours. She's never stuck a paw in the water but she has put her paws on the glass trying to chase them. hehe
(P.S. Sorry if this is too fishy for chit chat but I didn't know where else to put it. :) )

I have 2 Black labs. The female is fascinated by the fish, always nose prints on the glass. Everything that moves amuses her. The male doesn't pay a bit of attention to the fish, he justs likes to get involved during water changes. He would drink out of the bucket if I wasn't watching.

I have 2 boxers. The male, Duke is a sr citizen at 10. Chloe is 2 and is just about the cutest thing we've ever seen. She is a spirited girl, and can talk like a wookie. Duke rules the roost with an iron fist, but if she can entice him off the deck into the yard she runs around him like a rabbit. She plays games with us, prefers to sit in chairs, can open the door to the deck and let herself out, and knows when we are going to leave the house. The both know when I am coming home from work, they wait at the window for me and are a wonderful welcoming committee.
My kids accuse me of neglecting my dogs and doing things with those fish. Well, the fish don't sleep in my room..or on our bed if they can sneak up there. They have stolen and eaten a couple packs of algae wafers, and I caught Chloe swiping the flake fish food.
For some reason they don't pay attention to the fish much. I guess they are much too occupied in keeping the killer bunnies out of the back yard. I know killer bunnies exist...OrionGirl has one...and my dogs believe.

Please accept my sincerest apologies Sublime. It's inexcusable that I didn't search for 'other pets' threads before starting my own. It will not happen again.

Yes, but was it in relation to the fish tanks?!?! I have to admit, I thought my cats (3) would love the big tank I got to replace my other ones because the stand is bigger than the tank and they can walk around it. BUT, of course they ignore the fish and just freak the poor fish out by pacing the front of the tank on occasion  They haven't gotten the idea to jump on top yet, which I hope they don't it is only glass lids

That is too funny! I was telling my mom today that I'm cycling a tank that will be for my cat Poopers because it's a 15 tall and will sit on the floor so she can see everything inside. Even though we were on the phone I could see her just looking at me like I'm crazy! lol

Our dogs don't notice the fish, but my rats do. Panda couldn't care less, but Kelpie tries to 'play' with Smčagol, the bichir...I don't think that would end well.

We have three cats. The newest addition, Yoda, is about 15 weeks old and he stares at the fish and paws the glass until something else catches his attention. Murphy likes to sit on the tank, will ocassionally gaze in to it and Tiger doesn't give a crap about anything but herself and when her next meal is coming.

Our dog, The Dingo (<--- see left) doesn't pay a bit of attention to my tanks.... UNTIL I DO. When my hubby and I try to relax on the sofa in the evening with a nice glass of wine to watch the fish for a while, Dingo does everything in his power to make sure we understand that HE should be the only animal we care about. He whines, paces, jumps on our laps, (he's 50 pounds, that's not pleasant) wedges his head under our hands to make us pet him.... he's one pathetic beasty!

2 cats named Torby and Memo. Memo gets jealous of me fish watching and will "claw" at my back to make sure his presence is known. There both declawed or that could be a problem. ;)

My Lab snaps at the fish from time to time, but it's mostly in passing as he makes his trips around the house. He had a serious problem with catching fish while we were fishing: If a fish was released, he would dive headfirst off of the boat to catch it. However, even dogs learn that you should never dive where you don't know how deep the water is...heh heh heh.
