My 125G is scheduled to arrive on Saturday. It is used, but still in excellent condition and was a great deal. I have been thinking about the stocking possibilities.....I have a Rainbow shark that has to be upgraded to a larger tank as well as 3 clown loaches that I am adopting from my parents tank because theirs is overstocked? Im under the impression (hope is a better word) that in a 125G the rainbow shark and the clown loaches will be able to stay out of each others way enough so there wont be any problems. The rainbow shark upto this point has been very docile and shown little to no aggression with his tankmates....Anyway, I was wondering what to add with these guys. I was leaning towards a school each (8-10) of harlequin rasboras and cherry barbs. Does this seemed overstocked? Please offer me any help or suggestions. Thanks in advance

I think your ideas so far are fine, just stock slowly and do your research before hand and you won't add anything that you kick yourself for later :D !! I also think the clowns and the rainbow will be fine. I have 5 clowns with a rainbow (who so far has the same temperment as yours) and have no problems. Just make sure to have lots of hiding spaces, I think that is the key so no one gets stressed out.
Depending on if/what other fish you want, you could just make those two schools bigger and leave it at that, they'll look nice in big groups and will stick together better

Get a betta to! there awsome!

I have no intention of placing more fish in there. Ive done my reasearch on all these guys and thats the scheme I seem to like the most. I would gladly make it the two schools larger, I just wasnt quite sure with the size the loaches and the shark are capable of that I could fit anymore rasboras or cherry barbs without crowding.....thanks for the input

Tetras Tetras Tetras

I have i friend with a 125 tall he has it stocked with 145 assorted tetras, everything for neons, to black skirts, he also has a few glass cats. it is beautiful with so many diffrent schooling fish you watch it and you have about 12 diffrent schools of fish all swimming in diffrent dirrections. ive sat the and watched it for hours.

Well, thats way overstocked  !! But mattskims, you sound like you're headed in the right direction. I would say that 15-20 of each of the barbs and rasboras would be fine. Maybe even more, but I'm not sure what exact number would put you at fully stocked

YOUR IDEA SEEMS PRETTY GOOD BUT ID PUT 1 OR 2 harlequin rasboras AT FIRST TO SEE OF THE SHARK EATS THEM OR NOT ;)
