55 Gal. Question

I want to add a 55 Gal tank to my home but not sure if the floor would handle it. I live in a 1997 manufactured home (trailer). Any body out there done this?sure would love to have some input.

I lived in a nice manufactured home in college but from what I remember the floors were not very solid. With a 55 gallon tank you are looking at around 500+ lbs once water fish and gravel are added. True, this is probably as much as a couch but the problem is that it will be in a smaller more concentrated area. Unless you can get under your trailer and add more support to the floor I would be very cautious about it.

You may want to contact the home builder and ask their opinion.

I would think you are pushing the limits of the floor puting about 500 pounds in a 4'x2' area (and that is with the assumption that your stand has a full foot print). If you can strenthen up the floor then that would be an optioin, or else as stated contact the maker of the home and get their advice.
