I had a pair and found them to be shy at first. When they feel comfortable, they'll dart to the surface for bits and waggle at you thru the glass for more. They eat most anything and like vegetable based flakes. Mine loved tetra color flakes amd seemed to prefer this over meaty foods. (A cheap date. lol)
I had a male that didn't eat from being harassed by the female who was territorial. Watch for this. Is one hiding all the time while the other cruises all over? I ended up taking her back to the LFS. (altho she was so purty and I felt sorry for it).
Convicts are easy keepers, once settled in. They need hiding spots and places to dig but otherwise easy keepers.
