tire track eel? anyone have any experience or knowledge aboutthem..... i have one in a 10 gallon with a bunch of platies.... the eel hasn't eaten any of them.... he hides in his cave all the time.... substrate is sand, will he go through my sand and burrow through it, i've never seen him do it yet.... what do they eat?

Hope you plan on moving him to a larger tank--10 gallons is way, way too small. For food, try brine shrimp, crumbled frozen formula, or chopped earthworm (be careful and feed sparingly--very messy, and too big a piece can become lodged in their throat). The platies are likely too big for him to eat right now.

Also, get a better species ID--I've seen about 4 different species labeled as tire tracks, and while care for the FW species is similar, some are in fact best suited for BW.

The eel soon will outgrow the 10 and will need to be moved up to at least 110 cause they can grow about 39 inches long.
