Substrate for Clown Loaches

Do clown loaches like sand as a substrate?

I believe that most fish that nudge in the substrate like sand as long as it isn't sharp. You want to avoid any substrate that can damage their barbels.

Hey,

I have sand in all my tanks. My clowns especially love it. When I had gravel in their tank, I would notice small white patches on the fronts of their noses...from digging through the rocks, so I changed to sand. Personally I think it looks better and is more natural for most fish. Opinions vary though :p:

Thanks for your replies. I am just wondering what type of sand has a white color? Where can you buy it?

I used half pool filter sand and half Fluorite. My loaches seem quite happy :cool2:

pool filter sand has a nice white tropical beach color, plus its crazy cheap. You can buy it at hot tub stores.

edit- it is relatively cleaner than other sands too, but still make sure to clean it
