once i get my wet/dry built i would like to have the return at the bottom. i was thinkg that drilling the tank would be best so i dont have as much crap in the tank, but im not really sure what to do. the tank will be getting around 4-600gph one a 120g tank after the head and everything.

Its best to keep it over the top. Because in a power failer the sump may overflow.

plus, it is safer\stronger when you drill near the top of the tank.

ok so i should just get that back drilled and run a spray bar or something? i'd like to make sure the water is circulating the hole tank, not just the top.

Powerheads strategically placed along the bottom of the tank will solve that problem.

Just mount the spray-bar vertically.

Put the hose over the top of the tank. Then attach it to a spray bar. No drilling needed for that.
