my fish are being unusal they rub aganist the rocks like they are itchy from time to time. i have rad that this is a mating thing or they are ithcy . but is there any sort of thing that could be cause this behavior

I HAVE 3 CICHLIDS AS WELL THAT HAVE BEEN DOING THE SAME THING. I BELIEVE THE MATING RITUAL IS ON THE RIGHT TRACK. WHILE THEY WERE DOING THIS, THEY WERE CONSTANTLY CHASING ONE ANOTHER AROUND. THEY SEEM TO HAVE GOTTEN THEIR FILL OF THIS AND NOW HAVE STOPPED BOTH BEHAVIORS AND RETURNED TO NORMAL

no white spots or any signs of disease or bumps or anything. all three of them do it. i guess it could be a mating thing but only two are a pair . and the other is by itself

I've heard that fish do this to mark they're territory? i dont no if this is true or not?

thanks for the help

Ammonia, nitrites, and chlorine present in the water will cause fish to rub against rocks, as well.
