So my little girl is turning 5 tomorrow, and she wants a pet. Since I just setup a tank a couple of months ago, she's really interested in my fish. So I figure on getting her a betta.

Got her a 5 gal kit from wally world, pink fake plants, multi fake color gravel with an emphasis on pink - both her choice. Strangely, she did not choose either the pink, the lavender, or the purple/blue betta that petsmart had - she chose 2 "mickey mouse" platys. They are chillin out in my tank for a few days while her tank runs, and I'll swap biowheels with her when I move the fish over in a few days.

awwwww, that's so cute! You do realize you'll be supporting her habbit when she starts to want bigger tanks and bigger fish ;)

Of course. Actually, the next tank will require a second tank to support the feeder fish population :) I really want to get a 100+ gallon tank and do N. American natives like bluegill, warmouth, etc.

you know you've got it bad when your tanks need tanks...

LOL....theres a fella at one of the lfs stores in my area...they specialize in reef tanks and have some beautiful setups at thier store.....anyway, one of the guys who owns it told me he started his aquarium hobby when he was 12. His mother denied him NOTHING in this persuit in this hobby....(He had a garage FULL of all sorts of tanks)...and as a result he is a saltwater reef specialist and owns his own fish store and gets to do what he absolutely LOVES for a living...and best of all.....get PAID to do it !!!

My dream job !
