I have 20gal tank and I have 2 heaters for 10 gallon tanks (50 watts), so I was wondering if I can use those 2 heaters to keep the water warm in my 20gal or Do I have to buy a heater for a 20gal (100watts)?

i would think that one of them could keep it pretty warm, try one and see what it does to water temp and then try the two... i would think that it would work... you just have to try with an empty tank, or you could do it with a tank with fish if you have no other choice

Yes you can do it that way and it's probably actually better!

Having two heaters means that if one quits working the other one will keep the tank partly heated.

And, if one of them malfunctions and stays on all the time it will have less power to overheat the tank.

By all means do it.

And two heat the tank more evenly. Iv got a 100w and a 50w on either side of my 20g. In Canada it sometimes takes a lot to get the tank heated.
