I have my 5g Aquatech on my desktop, with a couple of silk plants for my male betta as well as a few strands of anacharis floating around.

Would the current lighting be sufficient to make this a fully planted tank? I won't ask a bunch of other questions unless it it would in fact be sufficient :)

Thanks in advance,
Bryant

How much light? What kinds of plant do you want?

I have a 5g all-glass with 18 watts(less when you factor in tank size and light coverage) on top. I just have java fern and some hornwort. My old male betta lives alone in it!

I can't see any wattage on the hood or light fixture ... the lens was being a pain about coming off so I could look at the bulb itself for details. From what I've seen in other postings, it's about 8 watts normal output fluorescent ... box describes it as "full spectrum flourescent ideal for plant life" (but then again algae is a plant LOL). FWIW this is the Walmart equivalent of an Eclipse, same manufacturer (Marineland) but apparently on the down-low.

As far as plants, if I am able to keep any, I'd like something rooted and appropriate for the light requirements -- open to ideas, mainly just wanted to see if it could be done at all.

Thanks,
Bryant

8w in a 10 wont grow much. Maybe low light, but that would still be hard. Can you get a pic of the bulb? I maybe able to get the wattage fro you.
