Hey, that goldfish tank you have....you have A LOT of goldfish in there!!!!! How many gallons is it and how big is that tank? What kind of maintenance do you have to do on that? How big are those goldfish?? I am going to be starting a goldie tank soon, still collecting the facts though so I don't mess up! People say you need like 10 gallons per fish and then 20-30 gallons per fish when they get older! You seem to be conquering these barriers unless that is just a grow out tank for you!

Cheers!

LOL. wow you really advertised me name!!!

well the standard rules are 10 gallons per fish. but i don't go with guides.

mine's a 30"x14"x14", it's a 2.5ft tank. i forgot the side dimentions.........i don't know how to explain the filteration. the powerhead pumps the water to the filter container on top of the tank. ;)

survival rate? 100%. well i lost 4 so far but let me elaborate........

1 died cos the algae eater attacked it,
1 died because suddenly all the other goldfish seemed to attack it (strange huh?), and
1 i had to kill cos in my carelessness he got sucked into the hose when i was cleaning the tank and his eye came loose and i couldn't bear to see it suffer like that so i put it away.
1 died of sickeness as my dad put one of them in his bowl and we forgot to take care of that fella for a while and it got sick.

so as you can see.......none of them died of stress or sickness or anything.

i used to have a 1ft tank with about 9 goldfish inside. was planning to keep them small, survival rate was 100% as well and it survived better than my friend's 4ft tank. i lost 1, but i think he died of internal injuries as i injured it one day when i was pouring water.

please note that when i mention 100% survival rate i meant "deaths caused by poor tank condition = 0%".

water parameter? i don't know(temp, PH, KH, Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate). believe it or not, no one in my country does that unless they have much cash to buy kits. and there's no LFS that do water tests.........and we don't do cycling either.

heck i've never heard of water tests and tank cycling until i started joining forums like AC.

i don't know. i could be just lucky, or i just found a way to take care of fish beyond the standard guides and rules. i have a friend who has better filtration (easily costs more than 30x of mine) and more expensive goldfishes and still he lost more than i do(again, in terms of sickness).

SIZE. hrmr...... you want total length of them combined? the 2x pearl scales 1x moore 2x unknowns are 5 - 7inch TOTAL approx.

4 orandas = 8 - 10 inches TOTAL approx

6 ryukins = 9 - 12 inches TOTAL approx

and 1 pleco, i forgot the size. too many plecos at home.

* i do hope that this thread doesn't involve flaming....... :D

That's about 25 gallons, less if the measurements are from the outside of the the tank.

Why do you think the pleco attacked one fish, and the other goldfish attacked another? Might be too small of a tank...

Jim

naww.........not the tank size. issue that causes the attacks.

plecos are known to attack goldfish cos of the slime.

and as for the goldfish attacking goldfish, it was strange as they used to be in smaller tank area together for much longer but nothing went wrong. it happened in a bigger area. ;)

however now all is well. it was a sudden unexplicable frenzy.

btw that naughty pleco was banished to the oscar tank.
