Behind you!
About 3 weeks ago i started a 10 gal. quarentine tank in my kitchen, i threw 4 zebra danios in it, a hang on back penguin filter with bio wheel, a few fake plants and a hand full of gravel from my fully cycled 40 gal. 3 weeks later im showing 0 ammonia/0 nitrites/5 nitrates. During the entire 3 weeks i never once saw ammonia or nitrItes and now it appears i have nitrates.. Could my tank have cycled this fast? ? thanx.

Thats weird then. I would say theres a 50%, 50% change thats it cycled. 4 Danios in a 10g should be enough of a bio load to cycle the tank. but then again the bacteria may of been enought to support them. I would try to start to stock slowly. Try 2-3 fish at a time, weekly. If you see a spike stop addind and cycle.

Kas it is a QT tank so there really is no reason to worry about adding to the bio load right now.

As long as he keeps on feeding the bacteria so there is no die off then all should be fine. If he is QTing more than a couple of fish at any one time in a 10 there is bound to be problems anyways.

Decoy. Just test it regularly for the next week or so and watch the nitrates. If it is cycled and the readings you got weren't off then the nitrates should go up slowly while showing no ammonia and no nitrites.

I would leave the danios in there until you have to start QTing.

Still. Its safer for the fish.

I don't see your point but either way the tank sounds like it ready to go.

You are cycled, your handful of gravel seeded the bacteria for you, just like bio spira would. Assuming there are enoguh nutrients (ammonia, nitrite) and media to live on the good "wee beasties" can double the size of the colony in just over 24 hrs.
