I would please like to know long to soak my plants in a mixture of bleach and water, in order to disinfect them? Also what is the best ratio of bleach to water? I have heard 19 parts water to 1 part bleach. Thanks.

It is to remove some algae that's covered the plants?
1-2 minutes does it.
I just trim infected parts off with scissors personally, the plants grow back fast.
If just for general use adding new plants, I never do this. I just rinse with tap water and let them sit in there for a couple three hours, them add to tank.
Some folks lime the dip water. If you still choose to do this, 30 seconds should be enough. Fine needle and delicate plants will die back and large amount of my die altogather.

How can you remove algae from plastic plants? I have green and black algae on all my plants and want to get it off. Any ideas?

Take the plastic plants out and soak for a bit in a strong bleach solution. That will kill any algae. Then scrub it off and flush with lots of tap water -- I would do a final soak with some dechlorinator too.
