I have a 29 gallon tank with 2 female mollies, 2 mickey mouse platys, and 1 blue gourami. Does anyone have a suggestion of what else I can put in there? I did have 5 mollies, 2 mickey mouse platys, 1 orange platy, 1 blue gourmi, 1 gold gourmi, and 1 red tailed black shark but some have died. I left for a week and had someone take care of my fish and when I came back 3 were stuck in the filter. I am going to wait 2 weeks to put for fish in my tank.
Please give me ideas for what I can put in my tank! Thanks!

Unless the people taking care of your fish did something really dumb :duh: they should have been ok. What are your test results? I would make sure your tank is not having any problems before you add more fish, or they might just die on you again :(

Well I cleaned out the fish tank 2 weeks ago and when I got back from my trip the tank was green in a lot of spots. It never does that. I have taken our water to Petsmart to have it tested. They said that it was fine but it had a little salt in it. The person that fed them overfed them.

If you completely cleaned out the tank, you will be going through the cycling process all over again, I would not get anymore fish until you read and understand the cycling process (check out the stickys in the article section). It is also really important to have your own test kits, at the very least for nitrite, and amonia. They are toxic to fish at any level and need to be taken care of immediately if present in your tank or the fish will not make it. Unfortunately, many LFS workers might not know any more about fish than the customers who come in looking for help. If you have to rely on them for testing your water, ask for exact numbers for amonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph. Sometimes they will tell you your water is "fine" when it really isn't, just b/c they don't know any better. Hope that helps

Thanks! I didn't clean out the tank totally. I took less then half out. I filled it with bottled water. I have a test kit but it tells you what is in there by colors so it is confusing. I guess I should buy another one. They are sure expensive!

Test kits: basically all you have to read is that there IS a color. with the one's I have used, if there is color, you need to change water and bring your readings to 0. What test kit do you have?
Also bottled water isn't safe to dump into a tank when you don't change the water frequently. water pH fluxuates as the fish urinate etc. So dropping in the fresh 7.0 pH water is going to hurt your fish if thier water had a different pH. It is going to kill your fish if there difference is big.
for your fish stocking question, I would suggest you look in the fish species stuff on here, at myfishtank.net, and/or liveaquaria.com. Those sites helped me find a lot of info on what could go in what sized tanks, and other requirements they have. I made sure to cross reference between the 3, to make sure they had their facts straight.
