No copper! I did what you guys told me, and tried a different test kit. I used the Seachem, and it told me none, including none with R.O. water, but it did test positive with there Cu solution they sent with it. Now granted, it's just one more test, but I've had better luck with Seachem than Red Sea. Tonight, I'll test the R.O. I'm using with the Red Sea test kit just to be sure. I read somewhere that the copper pipes could leach copper only if you have soft water. Up here it's like liquid rock. And no medications were every used on the equipment or the tank. So things are looking good. My ultimate stocking plan is 1 tuxedo urchin, a dozen or so red legged hermits, 1 blood shrimp, 4 skunk shrimp, and a buncha turbo snails. Thanks alot to everyone here who helped.

Just a quick note--other than to say I'm glad you don't have copper! The blood shrimp will be much more intersting if you have 2-3 of them. Otherwise, the single one will hide most of the time.

Point taken. Thank you. I read somewhere that they'll fight, but I probably got confused again. In freshwater, cyprinidae, tetras, etc. all like schoaling. I'm trying to get used to this whole "one per family" thing. And with most freshwater inverts, such as the crawfish, you'd have problems with more than one. Man, what I'm learning...

Yep--getting into SW involves ignoring most of what we learned about FW. Hard sometimes!

Blood shrimp display much better behavior in groups--including cleaning fish for parasites. Shrimp are usually okay in groups, while many crabs are not. Arrowheads don't like other inverts of any kind (sometimes they'll be okay, butI've seen arrows go after emeralds, tube worms, and camel shrimp!) Sally light foot, emeralds, and porcelains are okay in groups, but porcelains won't share turf--ie, they need their own niche or they fight. Good thing they stay small and don't need a big turf.

Hmmm...Not sure what the term is for a group of shrimp? I think of them as herds, but that's probably not right...

Perhaps something to the tune of a pack or a flock, since they're scavengers. A gaggle just doesn't sound right. But the way that hermits go about, grazing on the floor, it seems fitting that they would be a herd. Hermit crabs, the bovines of aquaria (actually goldfish are).
