Sand?

I'm using 44 lbs of SeaChem Silver Shores in my 30 gallon and was planning to add 10 lbs or so of live sand. I was curious as to whether or not the Silver Shores is considered a sand, or just a larger substrate. It's composed mostly of crushed shells and smaller particles, anywhere from 1/10" to 1/2". I was thinking some day to get some yellow headed jawfish, and that's why I was curious. Thank you.

I'd consider that closer to crushed coral than sand, but that's just because of the large grain size. Sand is usually less then 1mm, IMO. Smaller than that is silt, bigger than that is gravel, cobble, ect.
