I saw some of these loach at PetSmart the other day..I was intriqued....(they're a good color for my B&W tank..lol)......they were pretty small, about 1/2 inch or so, but very cute and quite an attractive little fish.

I have read they only get about 4 inches at the most ....anyone here have any experience with these yoyos that they'd like to share with an interested hobbiest ?

I suppose I already have bottom feeders in that B&W tank...with the two panda cories....but I am wondering if a yoyo would get along ok with the rams in my 29. I need a bottom feeder in that tank because I had to take the cories out of there. The rams were annoyed by them and wouldn't leave them alone. I'm wondering if I would have the same problem with the loach....

I have a yoyo loach in my 75g and it sometimes chases some fish around but never is harmful, I have read that they are a bit more on the aggresive side. My clown loaches hated him at first but now they all get along. He seems quite hardy he ate 10mins after putting him in there and hes always out. There are a lot of conflicting reports regarding size of this loach though. Some swear by 4 in and than others say that is a lie and they can get 7 or 8. Mines 2 inches and hasnt had any noticable growth unlike the clowns. As far as the rams and bottom feeders go... I think rams hate pretty much any bottom feeder because mine would beat the heck out of the clowns when I had them together and than I put him in a 20 after he killed his wife and he beat up my pandas and now hes back in the 75g and still isnt a big fan of the clowns but not as bad now. hope I helped

I have 4 yo yo's in a 20 gal. long with 5 cory cats, 3 buenos aires tetras, and 1 opaline gourami. Everyone gets along fine. You should have at least 3 of them in your tank unless you have other loaches already in there like clowns. They are very playful, they're great snail eliminators, and help keep the gravel clean! I love mine! ;)

Hi! Your tanks are really very nice! I have a yo yo botia loach in my 29 gallon, semi-aggressive tank. His name is Scrounger because he does love to scrounge around on the bottom and eat the leftover food and stuff. He seems kind of aggressive cause he chases other fish from time to time. He's never nipped at anyone tho.
He is about three inches right now and supposedly will grow to 6 or 8. He is a chubby guy cause he eats all the time!
