Hi,

I just picked up a 27 gallon tank (30L,12D,16H), I have decided that i want to keep rams in it. How many pair would be suitable for my tank?

What else would work well in there? I am thinking of one clown pleco, shrimp and otos for the bottom. A school of tetras, what type i don't know yet and possibly an angel fish.

What do you think?

Thanks
Nate

The rams probably wouldn't be happy with all those bottom fish and would probably attack the shrimp to death... They are well worth not having the other fish though... imo... : )

I would just put one pair in there if I were you...the shrimp, pleco, ottos and tetras all should do just fine with the Rams.....I have my Rams in with Glass Catfish, Cardinal Tetras, Rummynose Tetras,Serpai Tetras,Ottos, Flower Shrimp and 2 Dwarf Puffers and have no issues to speak of.

it should be fine, but you had better hope that they do not spawn because they will terrorize everything that comes within their range and sometimes they dont even have to do that.

Well, I have a pair of blue rams in a 29 with 2 dwarf gourami and 3 otocinclus. They don't bother the otos at all but they do pester the gouramis when they are protecting a batch of eggs. The gourami have learned to steer clear during those times, so there really hasn't been any problems with it. I think if I had more fish in there it could be trouble though...depending on what they were.

Oh...one fish that the rams could NOT tolerate were the panda cories I had in there for a bit. They couldn't stand them and I ended up taking them out.

yeah, I second that... Rams tend to hate the "catfish" the most. My clown loaches took top priority for them. And even when I put him in the 20g just for fun he attacked my pandas as well
