My daughter has been keeping a betta and an ADF together in a 2 gallon. I know thats a little tight but they have both thrived. The problem is the ADF attacks the bettas fins. He stalks the betta then pounces on the fins. I have even seen him get such a good hold that he goes for a little ride around the tank! This ADF will also hang on to the hornwart and yank it around.
The bettas fins were getting a bit ragged after awhile and I figured more space would do them good so we got daughter a 10 gallon. She put in 2 platies, one a high fin platie, and the ADF. The ADF immediately started stalking the two platies and jumping at them! New Victims! So the ADF is back in the 2G and the betta is very happy in the 10.
Anyone else have psyco ADFs? My son has one also and he is very mild.
I also considered he may be a clawed frog but after searching dozens of pictures I am convinced he is just an ADF. He has flat eyes on the sides of his head and webbed front feet.
