This kit comes with 10 LEDs 10 resistors an EASY to follow schematic & the power supply! I have them on both of my tanks and they look awesome! all you need is a soldergun some solder and some wire "speaker wire works great." These LEDs are 4000mcd and 470nm which closely matches the wavelength of the moon. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Im selling these Kits for 12.00 + 3.00 shipping in the US. If your interested PM me.

so what gallon tank would that go on?

They usaly go by how long the tank is... A 10 light system will work just fine for a 48" - 60" and it should cover well...

Yeah this 10 LED kit will work fine on a tank up to a 48" tank. I have this kit on my 90 Gallon and its 48". You can use this kit on smaller tanks because you dont have to use all 10 LEDs, you can use 2, 4, 6, or 8 or if you have a larger tank I also have 12 and 14 LED kits.

Do you include assembly instructions? And how much does the other stuff generally sell for in a retail store (solder gun, solder, etc...) Also, do you have more pictures, or just the one posted here? How wide is the whole setup? And how tall?

Thanks!
Fernando

Sorry...just noticed you do include an easy to follow schematic. But still curious about the other questions however. Also, where do they go? On the glass cover or the hood cover? Sorry... hard to tell by the picture... I can't really see what all is going on... do you have other pictures? Above and below water level pictures to see what the outcome is, or maybe even a picture of the setup where it's bright in the room so I can judge how it would look over my tank...

Jeez...I'm demanding... :) sorry...

Thanks again!
Fernando

I still think that since you're using a 12v adaptor for power, if you get the adjustable adaptor with 7 different voltage settings (12v being the highest!) they would be dimable ;). Those that wanted to use only 5 of the 10 LEDs could just select the 6v setting etc.... Try looking in the electronics/phone section of the local hardware store for those of you interested.

Hi Fishez,
Thanks for your your fast shipping! I have a question regarding the instructions. on each side of the lights you show wire is this the speaker
wire? Am I supposed to bend the resisters like the diagram? What kind of wire do I use to go from the neg side of led to neg wire? :read:

Hi pearllady,
Yes that is speaker wire on each side of the lights, You connect the negative side straight to the negative wire and no you do not have to bend the resistors. If you have anymore questions just shoot me an e-mail to jimmy_w64@yahoo.com and I will do my best to answer them. Thanks

Jimmy

Hey Jimmy, I FINALLY wired up the set you sent me (2months ago?). Just wanted to say "Thanks" for the whole deal...for the price and convenience (and instructions!) it's a good deal!

My bad on my previous post, I see the transformer is a 6V not 12. I did by the adjustable transformer (power supply) and now have dimmable (albeit only 4 settings) moonlights.
Just fyi for any others interested.

Thanks a lot Jimmy. My tank looks great with just 8 of your LEDs (I burnt one up and broke a lead off another-Sometimes I'm an idiot) attached to a 12V power supply. Thanks again.

So what is included?
10 blue LEDs
10 ??ohms resisters
What type of power?

dougall
01-17-2006, 10:14 PM
I'd imagine resistors wouldn't even be necessary depending on the power supply used..

Fishez

Resistors are a must. You will burn up LEDs without them.

The Kit comes with 10 LED's,10 Resistors, 1 DC power supply & instuctions.

Oops.. sorry, I don't know where my head was last night.

You don't necessarily need a resistor for each LED; just for each series run of them.

So all you need to complete the lighting you sell is speaker wire? How much and what does it cost?

All you will need is a solder gun, some solder & some speaker wire to completly wire this kit up. You can buy speaker wire just about anywhere for about $2 or $3 I get mine at Wal-Mart.

Well I got mine and mounted them in a square tube and they work GREAT except I used all 10 on a 48" tank and it is too bright.

To everyone interested:

This is a very good deal. It took me about an hour to wire everything together, paint the wood I purchased separately, and install everything. Very fun project. Below are pics. of it on my 55 gallon African Cichlid tank and the actual lights themselves in regular light.

Pretty cool. I like the moonlight strip I got from www.aquatraders.com. This sounds like a fun DIY project though. Too bad I don't have a soldering gun.
