Read the article on co2 injection diy. The amount of co2 that disolves in the water is proportional to the amount of time they spend in contact.

Thats a small pump(45gph) in the open end of a small acrylic box sitting on the bottom of the tank. Airline tubing connects the space above the pump to the dyi co2 generator. The co2 bubbles into the box and displaces the water.
Turn the pump on and the co2 space is continiously sprayed with water, disolving much more gas than letting it bubble up thru the water.
