I just picked up two new ADF's to keep my sigle one company. I put them in yesterday and they were happy go lucky and moving about the tank. This morning one of the new frogs was on the bottom and slightly bloated (not bloated like the pictures inthe ADF links, but looked like a fully fead frog) and he was dead. I just tested my water and it is ammonia: 0 ppm, nitrite: 0 ppm, nitrate: 5 ppm. All the other fish are doing fine as are the other two frogs. Any ideas

I would give Leopardess a shout out with a PM or just give it a few mins I am sure she will help you out, she's out resident expert on ADFs. Sorry about your loss.

I'm sorry about your frog. I can't really help that much, I'm afraid - though I appreciate Nataku's vote of confidence. With the water parameters testing out okay (assuming pH and temp are also fine) and the other frogs being alright, it's hard to say. The only thing I can think of is that maybe he ate a lot of freeze dried foods. Either before you bought him (though many places don't feed them) or after you got him. Sometimes freeze dried foods can cause a blockage in the intestines, leading to bloat and death. What you describe sounds a little too sudden though.
My only other ideas are some sort of illness or organ failure. I know land-frogs will sometimes eat the gravel (which obviously can cause death) but I do not know of any ADF's exhibiting the same habit.
Keep an eye on the other new frog (and your old one of course) and let us know if anything happens.

Well the other new one is fine but the other old one started to act funny... He was swimming up for air and it looked like he was struggling, then he would just drift down and get knocked around and land on his back on the floor and stay there. After a while he would move around... I have removed him from the tank and into a 2 gal hospital tank so he can be watched. He seems fine in the hospital tank, but I will keep an eye on him... I only feed them the reptile/frog food and any flake that the other fish do not eat (which isn't much)...
The first frog was rather sudden, but like you said could have been something pre-me. I did pick the two most active frogs in the tank, and the two larger ones also. I will watch them and see what happens, should I move the other new frog to the hospital or leave him be?
