Should the Stones retire

A friend of mine is going to check out the Stones this weekend. I can't decide if I envy her or not. I mean they are undoubtly the greatest Rock and Roll band of all time but would it be a let down to see them now? No doubt they are still better than any new band, but can they still live up to their own legend. Sooner or later everyone declines and it very sad when the mighty no longer live up to what they once were. Course it's all kind of moot cause they won't be visiting here anytime soon.

I am of the same opinion as you. For the most part they are living of there musics of the 60's and 70's. Don't get me wrong I really enjoy there music, but enough is enough. If you are going to keep touring with the same stuff, then you need some new stuff to go along with it.

If they can still play their music then I say let them. But the last time i saw them play live (and it was on TV so that may make a difference), they just seemed so sloppy and not together. The live crowd seemed to like it though.

If you still got it go for it. I haven't heard them play recently so I can't say if they in fack "still got it" but if they can still rock.......

I thought they had a new album out too. A new song that talked about Pres. W. and no one was sure if they were praising him ar bashing him?

From the news that I read, they never said one way or the other. IMHO... Controversity Sells".

Sticky Fingers, Beggar's Banquet, Let it Bleed and Exile on Main Street are high on my list of favorite albums of all time.

The Beatles don't even make the list for me. I guess I'm weird.

I have seen the Stones a couple of times, but not in their heyday (Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge tours). They did rock very well!

If Head East and Loverboy can still tour, then why not the Stones? They still fill the darn stadiums, so there is still a fan base willing to shell out the dough.

I wish I had forked over the 100$ (for the cheap seats in Michigan ~1990) to see Frank Sinatra before he died. Even if he was well past his prime. The Stones have had the same sort of impact on popular culture and people want to experience a Stones show before the opportunity becomes unavailable. Let them have their chance.
