I just got back from out of town (lincon). There, I stoped at pet co. There was a giant (9") blood pareot there. I talked with an employee to find out it was worth about $60-$70 at that size, but it was part of there adoption plan and was free. He's with a belly-crawler pike cichlid buldining a pit right now.

Well free is a good deal. If yo ahve the tank space for him, go for it. :)

and you don't mind the fact that it's a Frankenstein fish that shouldn't really exist. (sorry i'm a bit of a purist). Also, I don't think it would be worth 60-70 dollars no matter how big it is. Sounds like it was a tankbuster brought in by some one who was tired of it beating up on everything else in his tank. If you are actually looking to get a large blood parrot, then it's a great deal, but you should never buy a fish just because you think it's a good deal. Just my 2 cents.

apparently, you guys think its still at the store. I said its sharing 20gal of my 55 with a pike chichlid. on the other side is 9 convicts (I'm trying to get a breeding pair), a 5" tinfoil barb, a 10"tinfoil barb, 2 green-spotted puffers, 3 5" blue gouramis, a 3.5" b. gourami, a 2" paradise fish, 3 2" giant danios, a 3" male manochromis auratus, and a 12" synodontis ereptus (I know, prety mismached)

IMO I think he should have at least 75g all to himself pretty much.
