I had 5 ghost shrimp in 29g before and now I only have one left. I still have no idea why whole bunch of others died. They don't hurt anything in the tank. I think they are cute addition. You probably want to be sure that your fish wouldn't eat them. I dont know if my fish killed the shrimps or just bad luck?
i was just curious as to what everyone else has thought of them ...i have been in aquatics for awhile and have several tanks that they could inhabit ..ive heard a ton of stories with people claiming they will crawl out of a tank ..i was just kinda looking for things along those lines ..cause if they can make it out of one of my tanks they will live about 15 seconds, before my dogs and or cat and or kids ate or squashed them! ...so i already understand their care and maintenance was more looking for other people who have them and their opinions on them,.thanks for replying though!
my brother had 3 in his little aquarium. they did a really godo job of eating off of the floor and they even cleaned the plastic plants off. although when the other fish die they will eat them. other than that i would say go for it.
I don't have experience with ghost shrimp, but I've had an amano shrimp (aka algae eating shrimp) for a few months now, and it is doing well. Very entertaining to watch too.
