I have 4 Red Wag platies and yesterday 2 of them kept going after each other to the point that each of them have damage to their fins, tonight 3 of the 4 are hanging out at the top of the tank and one is hanging out at the bottom. The one at the bottom is a female(i think) and is rather large. I think that i have 2 male and 2 female. Is there any other way to tell other than their "lower" fin?

Not really, except that the fat ones are probably females holding fry.

Not really, they claim that "Sex can be easily determined by the male's modified anal fin (gonopodium). Females grow larger and have a more rounded body." Now if you know what that means more power to you...

This is the gonopodium of a male livebearer:

It is absent in females.

Once you get used to the difference, it really is easy to tell. It's hard at first, but you do eventually realize that a female's fin that is close to her body looks nothing like a gonopodium.
