Well, this is a new one for me.
I bought a new Oceanic 135 reef ready in December and recently bought some new fish to go along with the 10 I already had.
I am into African cichlids and along with my Ps. crabros, Ps.
Zebra Kawangas, I just bought some Labidochromis Nkali
Zebras, Labeotropheus Trewevasae Ochres and Plecidochromis
Phenochilus.
Well, my Trewavasae are pretty small, narrow bodied fish and only about an inch and a half long, well they love to explore the
sides of the tank and get all and any algae they can find.
So, as you guessed, they get caught in the tide and over they
go into the overflow. This has happened already 3 times in the past couple of days and it is really a hassle to try to fish them
out of their little prison behind their new home.
Any ideas about keeping them out?
I am currently trying pantyhose threaded through the vents to block the size of the holes without restricting the flow of water
too much. After an adjustment, since while I was typing this thread another stupid fish ended up you know where....ok,
now that it is back into the tank, my wife is watching to see if
any of the fish are jumping into the overflow (doubt it not enought room) or getting sucked in around the hose anyways.
So, there you have another fun wonder of a new tank and new
fish to explore it. Thanks for any ideas in advance, FG.
