What TYPE (can,fluid,trickle,HOB,wet\dry) of filtration system would you use? And why? it will be at least 120gal, maybe bigger!

I would get a EHEIM 2128 PROFESSIONEL II THERMOFILTER- PLUS KIT, and get 1 or 2 Emperor 400s. Some massive filtration.

For a 125 Gallon tank

2 Emperor 400's
a Sump homemade- a 40 gallon water container with a sump. In this plastic container (food safe) I would place 2 heaters and Biological filter materials and a pump to pump the water back into the tank--------The sump would add oxygen to the water, take out your heaters from your tank and add 40 gallons of water to the tank making it 165 gallons. You can even add a light inside and grow plants to take out the nitrates.

That should be it.

Sumps are underrated I think- I seen a 500 gallon SW tank using only a Sump for filtration. It has all the Bio, chemical (if you want to add), mechanical filtration you want. PLus You can add anything you want to the container. I am actually thinking of getting a sump for my 60 gallon tank.
But filtartion is never a dream. They are rather inexpansice

emporor 400= $36
Fluidized bed filter= $50
Sump (with all supplies including 2 heaters= $125

I already have the emperor 400, fluidized bed filter....

Okay imagine this...

Drilled bottom, whatever size tank you want. Hole ->pvc pipe->eheim wet/dry filter (or any big eheim with heater built in)

Now, in that pvc pipe leading down to the eheim, put a spigot. This spigot now makes water changes a breeze. Plug in hose and out it goes. Since the tank is drilled, all the crap at the bottom rushes out through the hole. Easiest water change possible.

For additional filtration, a Tidepool II

Then 3 emperor 400's across the top.

build a sump out of the amazon river, and have 10,000 miles long tubings taking in and out of my tank water and filter it in the river.
