like all pike cichlids, my pink belly-crawler only eats live fish. but it can be expensive. I just watched him eat 25 feeder guppies in 15 minutes. how often can I feed him with out putting him on the verge of staving and so I don,t have to buy feeders buy the doesen so often. He's 5 inches

I had a similar problem with my A. panduros (would not eat dry food). I fasted them for a week, and still no dice. I was advised by a certain knowledgable (some might say too knowledgable ;) ) individual on this forum that 99% of fish could be taught to eat dry food. I swore he was full of it and that these fish would never take pellets.

Well, after another fasting period (this one lasting 10 days) they finally did take to pellets. I'm not saying this individual is always right (Lord knows he doesn't take it well when you tell him he's wrong), but on this one he was spot on.

Give them a week to think about it, and they will take to dry food. If not that, they should at least eat some frozen.

I've got my pike on pellets and food sticks (thank god!) - it took him a while - but he got hungry enough and took the que from the other fish in the tank...

I keep them but don't breed them - however, here is a good site for Pike info - http://www.geocities.com/napavalley/5491/articles.html - I have heard him speak at my cichlid club in the past - very good site for other cichlid info. too...
