I have a 10g sitting around and I THINK I may want to try and get some type of cichlid to put in there. I have apisto. cac. so those are out of the question. I think I may be getting a group of blue rams to go in my 75 so I doubt that would be a thought. What about kribs? Or shell dwellers does anybody know anything about the shell dwellers or where I could find some good info on them?

I have shell dwellers in 10g tanks - here is a helpful site - http://www.cichlidrecipe.com/shellweb/shell_intro.htm - enjoy!

Any of the smaller speices would be great in a 10g. A pair of the smaller julie species would work also, J ornatus, or J transcriptus.

moo, are those species available at AA or byerlies do you know. How much do the julie things run usually they are really pretty. Also, do you think putting a few shrimp in my 10g w/ the cacs. would be a good idea to clean up the java moss or would they eat the fry/eggs if if ever happens. I think they were mating tonight actually

AA has a great selection of shellies and julies, but they are slightly more expensive than byerlies. I beleive it's because all of the lake tang ciclids at AA are wild caught if that matters to you. the only thing AA is missing are female Neolamprolongus multifasciatus. These are my favorite oweing to the fact that they are prodigeous diggers, but at the same time rather skitish. I could set you up with some of my fry, but it would be months before they were old enough to spawn for you.
As to the shrimp, no they would not pose any threat to eggs or fry, but common ghost shrimp would not last very long with the apistos (mine love to make a snack out of them). I still add them every now and then as an enrichment activity for them (for the apistos that is, I don't think it's very enriching for the ghost shrimp). Amano shrimp on the other hand are much faster and more descrete. I had one in with my A. panduros for several months before he finally commited suicide by crawling up the airhose and crisping himself between the glass and the hood.
Congrats on the possible spawning activity!

Although I admit convicts will breed in a paper cup.....just add water...they really do need more room than a 10g can provide..things may go well for a while..but they OFTEN go postal for no reason we can comprehend...

I dont think im going to get anything for that tank I think I may rather just save up for a bigger tank to put frontosa or something of that nature in and use that to raise some fry in
