What kind of algae eater do you have? With oto cats, I've been told 1 fish per 5 gallons would have enough algae. I also supplement my otos with sinking algae tabs and blanched veggies.

Your local pet store or Wal-mart might have them or you can order them online. My favorite online store is www.thatpetplace.com . They also sell live fish so maybe you could look at the pictures of the algea eaters and find out what kind you have. What does it/they look like? Color, size, markings? Or better yet, can you upload a picture?

It is easy to drop a sinking algae tab and make sure they are not starving...
