Hello!
I have a 75 gallon tank with a young (5") Cichlasoma synspilum (female), an adult O.B Peacock (unknown Aulonocara sp. - male-4"), a Haplochromis compressiceps (old name - I think the new name is Dimidichromus? - gender unknown - 4"), Sailfin Pleco (Pteroglyplicthis gibbiceps? - gender unknown - 6"), an adult Synodontus eupterus (male - 6"), a young Cichlasoma nicaraguensis (3" - gender unknown), and a male Cichlasoma nigrofaciatus (2").
My question concerns the C. synspilum, C. nicaraguensis, and H. compressiceps. I have no prior experience with these fish and am wondering about their long term compatability with each other in this tank. The H. compressiceps seems to be rather shy, and the other two so far kind of ignore the other fish. The C. nicaraguensis is the newest member, and seems to be doing OK.
Thanks in advance!
Bob C.

Well, you've got african cichlids mixed with new world cichlids, with different diet and water requirements. The Cichlasoma synspilum can get huge - 12 inches plus - the convict and the Nic can be a pain in the arse - if you have another large tank, you may want to separate the africans from the central americans, or consider taking some back to an lfs. Try this site for more info. - http://fish.mongabay.com/fish.htm - good luck to ya!
