I just got a new 50 gal. tank and have no idea what to do with it. I like colorful fish because my 10 month old son likes to look at the colors. Help!!!! what should I do?

There are small Cichlids that are really colorful.
You'll get some good ideas here.... :)

Congrats on the new tank! And, nice size too...

3 or 4 clown loaches will add colour. as would certain cichlids gouramies and many others. go to your lfs and see whats there. now if you want to go salt water....
good luck

That's what I was thinking... :D

Well, I already have a small tank with an angle fish, sailfin molly, marble hatchet and 2 guppies.I laso have a betta in a small hex.
So......I was thinking of putting the sailfin, anglefish and hatchet in the big tank and let the guppies stay in the small tank. What fish would go well with these fish? Can I put my betta in with the guppies?

Since guppies have those pretty tails, they might not be too good to put with a betta. Bettas respond to color, and might mistake a harmless guppy for a rival male and attack it. It all depends on the temperament of the betta, though. An abnormally placid specimen might not mind being in a tank of brightly colored fish, but I don't think I'd risk it if I were you.

there are lots of beautiful tetras you could try,

i think someone already suggested neons

how about rummynose, or serpae. the tetras are usually pretty active aswell. well mine are:D

we have a small baby in our house and he loves all the fish tanks even the ones that are not really colour full. all the movement . though he does seem to prefer the cichlids ;)
