I noticed today that one of my clowns has lost all the black parts of its fins and it seems very stressed. Breathing is very fast and its swimming is erratic.
I only have 2 clowns, a regal tang which i put in a few weeks ago along with a cleaner shrimp. I also have a few small hermit crabs.
As the clowns were the first fish i put in the the tank, it must be either the tang or the shrimp which has been nipping at its fins.
What should i do and will the clown recover?
Thanks in advance

i have 2 clowns in with my regal and some cleaner shrimp, and none pay the others any attention. when did you notice the sick fish? how long before that was the last time you seen the fish in good standing? is there any live rock in the tank? what are all the parameters?

How big is your tank? maybe the tang added a lot of bio-load and the other fish are suffering it.

My tank is 96ltrs. I check and look at the tank everday and i cant remember seeing the clown looking sick in anyway buts its possible i just didnt notice. When i first put my tang in he got black spot but that cleared up in a few days. It really does look like something has nibbled at the clowns back fin because there is no black there at all.
He seems a bit more relaxed today but he still doesnt look good. Hes also taking food which is a good sogn right?
The thing that worries me the most is im going away for a week today and i dont know whether to take him out of the tank and take him to the store where i got him. They gladly look after fish or qt them for you.

Seems like getting the sick/injured fish into another tank would be a good idea, vacation or not.
You really have a regal tang in a 96 liter tank? That will simply not work in the long term.

Your tank is way to small for a tang (it doesnt matter the size of teh tang at this moment) because they need plenty of room to swim, they love swimming and they are really fast swimers. For a regal tang you need an aquarium of at least 270 liters. The tang will be really stressed in there, until he dies but along the way he can create stress for other fish as well and increase your bio-load (which can also bring you a lot of problems). You should return/sell the tang and get something more suitable for your aquarium.
