Hi

I have a 55g tropical tank. Some rock, bogwood and lots of real plants. Fish i have:

2x Blue Gouramis
2x Mollies
2x Bristlenose Catfish
3x Corydoras
4x Penguins
5x Neon
4x Guppies
1x Platy
1x Cavefish

I also have another tank with 2 goldfish in it. They have grown up now and could do with a larger tank which i dont really have room for. Can i add them to my tropical tank?
My tank is very peaceful and the temperature is about 5 degrees warmer than what the goldfish are currently used too.

Any ideas, thanks

technically, yes, but your tank would be overstocked, and goldfish get to be BIG. I would try to get a big tank for the goldfish, or give them back to the fish store.

I wouldn't do it. Your goldies have different needs than the tropicals do, like colder water, need different foods. Your neons, guppies, cories even may begin to disappear, your plants will become nonexistant, and the additional bio load will really do more damage than good for your tank. I vote for bringing them back to the store if you can't find a bigger tank for them.

Ok, thanks alot for all the advice. Will try and find a bigger tank, got to attached to them to give back to shop.

Cheers

try your local papers, craigslist, ebay, etc. I've gotten great deals on used tanks by just spending some time to hunt one down :thm:

goldfish are HEAVY feeders and HEAVY producers of waste. they will pollute your tank and add a heavier bioload than adding tropical fish. Goldfish do best with no heater. they will eat any live plants u have. Mollies, guppies and platies may peck the goldfish eating tis slimecoat. Goldfish need to be fed vegetable-based flake food or they can actually float.
