black phantom tetra and dwarf gourami?

i am thinking of getting a male dwarf gourami for my 10g tank but i dunno if my black phantom will pick on it. i only have 1 black phantom and i am planning on getting another one but it always chases my other neon tetras away. should this be a problem if i added a male dwarf gourami?

Black Phantom Tetras are very timid and it is sad they need about 5 in a group. I however only have 3 and they are not nippy at all towards my guppies.

My black phantoms are not shy about their space. When I got some in my overcrowded first setup they ambushed the other fish out of the plants. Now they swim around in and out of the plants in my 55 gallon tank

I would ask how big a setup you have. I think they need the horizontal space that at least a 20 gallon provides. Any smaller and you might have more fin nipping and agression out of them.

If its already going after the neons I would say it will probably harass a gourami :( . what all do you have in the tank?

i have 4 neon tetras, 1 black phantom tetra and an otto in a 10g. the black phantom looks like it has enough space-its always swimming around-but it chases the noens if they get in its territory so i was thinking of getting another one that might help it calm down.

10 gallons is to small to achieve no aggression out of these fish. Adding another phantom would only mean there are two dishing it out.

Not necessarily. The aggression could possibly be because most tetras like to be kept in schools. So lack of a school = aggrression, at least in my experiences. Not saying that adding more will help, but there is a good possibility that it will. If adding say 3 or so more doesnt help then you can always take them back along with the 1 in there already, or set up another tank for them.
