"Cross Breeding While some of the above species cannot be successfully crossbred, a few are and produce amazing results! Guppies and Mollies can be crossbred. It is also said that Guppies and Swordtails have been crossed to create the swordlike tail of the Swordtail. However, because there is not concrete evidence of this cross, scientists find it more logical to assume a chance development in the tail."

this site also claimed that guppies and platys can cross with ugly and sterile offspring! seriously??

i tend to think this is a load of bunk but i am no expert. can someone clue me in?

the only one that I have ever heard is swordtail/platy crosses. some people say to avoid allowing yours to breed but I also read somewhere that that is how some of the more colorful swordtails were developed. I'm definately not an expert on this.

Guppies and Plaites will not interbreed.

Never seen the Guppy/Platy thing, however guppys will breed with Endlers....

I'm no expert but IMO they'll only breed with the same genuses.

Genus:

Mollies – Poecilia Latipinna
Guppies – Poecilia Reticulata

Swordtails – Xiphophorus helleri
Platies - Xiphophorus maculatus

swordtail + platy = variatus (not sure about this one though)
molly + guppy = guppy-tail molly

here's a link of guppy-tail molly
