I have all OLD stuff... well mostly old stuff.
I have a pair of speakers I built a while back with a Vifa 5.25" driver and Vifa tweeter. I really like the way they sound....
For my amp and preamp, I have a Rotel Preamp and a Threshold 50wpc class A power amp.
CD player is a sorta crappy Yamaha carousel and my other source is my computer which has an M-Audio 2496 soundcard.
So far I'm really happy but I know the amp is killing me in terms of electric bill and heat. I'm sitting here in the room and I'm sweating due to the heat its putting out!!! LOL Anyway using the budget I had, it was all fairly reasonable and I think it sounds great. Oh I'm most proud of my speakers which I built and then the amp which will put me in the poor house.

I luckily have my computer speakers too so when I dont want the room to be so hot, I turn off the equipment and use my PC speakers :) They are Altec Lansing 5021.They are pretty decent http://www.tomshardware.com/firstlook/20040311/

I have a Denon AVR 2801 receiver and Denon turn table, Sony carousel cd player and a Sony DVD player, JVC dual tape deck, RCA VCR, my towers, center and sub woofer are KEF speakers (a british company - very nice sound) and Infinity rear speakers. Great sound for music - ridiculous overkill for watching movies in surround sound - the 12 inch sub shakes the house - hehe - I LOVE IT!

This seems to work pretty good for stereo and home theater...
We have ...
Onkyo TS-DS 767 reciever
Matching Hi-Res Acoustic Research speakers...
Front mains are the AR-3's with built-in 300w amps pushing the 12" woofers (left and right)
Center Channel AR2C
Rear Surrounds are the AR-15's
Subwoofer is a powered 12 inch Velodyne
(always try and use the same brand of speakers -- you want the same 'timbre' throughout the room -- mixing speaker brands doesn't work too well..)

I just got from Target ($80 on clearance no less) an RCA 5 disk DVD changer home theater with a built in tuner and the 5 surround sound speakers and subwoofer. I play CDs with it as well as watch dvds. Its only 450 watt but in my little apartment it sounds perfect for watching tv and movies. My little one doesnt complain either. =)
Before I had a seperate sony component system with a 50 disc cd changer and seperate dvd and all that, but it took up loads of space. I like what we have now and the sony stuff is collecting dust. Gonna try and unload in on craigslist or something soon.
This is what I have:
Pioneer VSX-D608
older Pioneer equalizer
Generic DVD/VCR
2 Bose Bookshelfs as fronts,
Audiosource satellite rears
Sony SAWX-700 Dual 10" 250w Sub
some Monster Cables, but I need to go full
I'm thinking of upgrading a lot of my stuff: my reciever later to a Pioneer THX 7.1(maybe the VSX-1015TX), my fronts to Bose floorstandings (bookshelves would then be going to surrounds) or all speakers except my sub to an Acoustimass system, to but this will do for now. :thm:

... ... or all speakers except my sub to an Acoustimass system, to but this will do for now. :thm:Remember the subwoofer doesn't need to match, or be the same make as your other speakers. ..Good set-up...

I have a Sony 5-disc changer, Sony 200x8 watt amp, JBL surround speakers, 6' Nuance front towers, and a 18inch JBL Sub. The Nuance towers also have two 10inch subs and a 700watt amp in each of them. Very expensive system but well worth the money. It has taken me awhile to collect it though, so the surround speakers and the amp are getting a little old. The amp will constantly cut the feed to one of my front speakers, it gets quite annoying, but 200x8watt amps dont exsactly come cheap so I have to save up to replace it.
